mini games!
ok, yes, on the one hand the tournament itself is rigged. SUPER rigged. about as predictably rigged as any game that features a virtual opponent and costs you a rechargeable something in exchange for playing. (the bit where a bunch of obviously separate AI moves somehow add into a combo is particularly funny.)
BUT — get past the wtf-ery, spend however many apples it takes to play consecutive games and get a fairer fruit randomisation, and its kinda worth it. the new blade is wicked fun: it amps up the scoring like whoa, and it looks cool doing it.
plus, the mini games genuinely add a breath of fresh (and fun!) air into the formula. the small challenges were one of my favourite things about the Puss In Boots version of this game... I actually hope they get to stick around after the tournament somehow, even without the cartload of golden apples Im sure to be accumulating this month
